Surgery

Viking Drive Veterinary Hospital offers safe, state-of-the-art surgical treatments to pets in Bossier City and the surrounding communities. We perform many surgical services including routine spays, neuters, and a wide variety of soft tissue surgeries such as biopsies, mass removals, exploratory surgeries, removal of foreign materials in the digestive tract, removal of kidney stones and bladder stones, hematomas, eye removal and more. We also conduct hip joint repairs and amputations.

Additionally, our veterinarian continues to practice elective surgeries for ear cropping and tail docking for select breeds of dogs. For an elective surgery such as ear cropping, a pre-surgical examination and evaluation is required as well as a consultation with the client about what they may expect. With proper care and pain management, this procedure is a humane elective process. The recommended age varies greatly depending on the patient, but for most breeds they should be done at 9 to 10 weeks of age.

Additionally, if your cat needs to be declawed or your dog’s dew claws need to be removed for health or safety reasons, our veterinarian can perform this particular surgery with the greatest quality care and pain management available.

If surgery is required for your pet, you can rest assured that our experienced doctor and staff will take the utmost care of your pet and treat it as our own. At Viking Drive Veterinary Hospital, we understand that anesthesia is scary. It’s very common for people to be concerned, especially when their older pet needs a procedure. To ensure your pet’s safety we require blood work prior to each surgery so that we can screen for any abnormalities or conditions that may be problematic. We also monitor vital signs throughout all stages of surgery and recovery.

Whether your pet is of the age to be spayed, neutered, or needs a different surgical procedure, we are here for you. If you reside in Shreveport, Benton, Elm Grove, Springhill or beyond, call us for more information about our surgical services.

At Viking Drive Veterinary Hospital we provide comprehensive, high quality, veterinary care with an emphasis on exceptional client service and patient care, while providing employees with desirable, fulfilling, and financially rewarding employment.
